Underage round up , 6th September

In what will be a weekly feature, I will be updating you on the fortunes of  City's underage sides over the coming season .
Cork City's under 17 side played in the league cup on Friday night against Macroom  out in Bishopstown and they won by the ridiculous  scoreline of  11-0, in a game where City just had way too much for their mid cork opponants.     On Sunday, City lost 1-0 to Wilton in the same competition .
Cork City's Youth team sealed their place in the semi finals of the league cup with  an 8-0 victory away to Rockmount . Brendan Cullan continued his great goalscoring form with 4 goals , Ben Twomey scored twice with Ciaran Mc Carthy and  Des Mallon also on target.
Yesterday(Sunday), City's under 20 team maintained their place at the top of the U20's league group 4 with a 3-1 win over Limerick in Annacotty .However  City first went a goal down when Limerick scored through Kevin Barry. But City took just a minute to get back on level terms with Kieran Kenneally scoring his 7th goal of the season from a penalty . City took the lead on 70 mins as Kenneally's cross fell to Rory Morrissey and he fired home from 10 yards. Rob Waters got City's thrid as he got on the end of a Kenneally cross to seal the 3 points for City .
This coming week , the u20 side play on Sunday away to Mervue( kick off 2pm) .Cork  City's youth team face 2 games this week  as their league kicks off. They travel to take on Cobh Ramblers in St Colman's Park Wednesday(kick off 7p m) and then host College Corinthians out in Bishopstown on Saturday  (kick off 3pm)   .
